Matched

Okay okay. I know I said it was super boring, but right after I said that...the story picked up quite a bit! I still stand by my stance that the first HALF of the book was very...dull. This is what the story is about:

Cassia lives in a future world where everything is...."perfect". Society has found ways to live without disease, and "match" people perfectly so that they are happiest with their mate, along with bearing the most optimal children. But what if you are matched with someone, but find yourself falling inlove with someone else?

My final opinion on the book:

Beginning- boring, because everything is perfect and dull.
Middle to end- REALLY good! I really enjoyed the last half. And I am SUPER excited for the second book! It comes out in November, I believe.

Next book: Beastly.

Ha, ha. That is funny. Glad you liked it. And I just can't get over the word BEASTLY. I just imagine this incredibly ugly, masculine woman. Which I hate to say, but that's what I imagine.

Yeah when I saw that you were going to be reading Graceling, I didn't want to say how I felt about it and burst your bubble before you read it. lol Like you said, though, the story itself is good, but I absolutely hate, hate, hate how the author promotes the idea that marriage inhibits a woman and her future. The companion book, Fire, is just the same (good story, bad moral ideas), so read it at your discretion!

Also, I am just so shocked when I hear that people actually liked the movie Beastly. I guess it's because I read the book first, and the movie just seemed awkward and sometimes painful to watch. The book is much better. I hope you like it!

And I, too, enjoyed Matched (despite the slow beginning), and I am looking forward to the next one as well. The author is actually coming to our library in a couple months. You should totally drive all the way down here to come with me to see her. ;-)

As for recommendations, I just read Abandoned by Meg Cabot, and I enjoyed it. It's a modern retelling of the greek myth about Persephone and Hades. I don't know if it might be too slow for you, though, but you should look into it. ;-) Just also be warned that it is the first in a trilogy and the others are not out yet.

Happy reading! =D
