Christmas in July

Right now I'm listening to Christmas music.

It happens pretty much every year...July hits and I get a sort of homesick feeling for Christmas. Christmas is far and away the best time of year. And the music is fantastic. So...I usually listen to a few tunes to satisfy me. I'm listening to Mindy Gledhill's Christmas album...and I have realized that I just love her. I feel like the best way to describe her voice is to liken it to butter. Her voice is butter. And I love butter.

In other news...I told you how I painted the cabinets in our bathroom and hall white. SO pleased with the results. HOWEVER- I made the HORRIFIC mistake of thinking I should paint them ontop of my plastic covered kitchen chairs. I figured the paint would just peel right off! NO NO NO- THIS IS NOT TRUE. DO NOT DO THIS. I have scrubbed scraped and let me tell you, it is hard work. For every hour I put into it I maybe get an inch of paint off! I'm at a loss of what to do. I've used bleach, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, and good old fashioned water. I've used my spatula, pie crust turner (don't know the technical term for it, but that's what I use it for), razor blade, edge of my dish scrubber thingy...nothing is really working that great. So, that is the stress of my life right now. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

It's hot. And I LOVE it!

My garden is doing great.

We went to Mesa Falls and it was great. And beautiful. But poor Dante went with us and just got so overheated that we couldn't stay that long. He was definitely the star of the show though. We got stopped so many times cause people just love him. It's always like that! He really truly is the cutest dog in the whole wide world. And the sweetest. And hammiest. And sneakiest! I love him.

We tried to do this three day smoothie cleanse and guess what? We gave up by 5 o clock on the first day :) I had the worst stomach ache after drinking kale, celery, and cucumbers. And I decided that it just wasn't right. So Clay and I made some rules and commitments to each other. We will continue to have a healthy smoothie each morning (not ONLY vegetable healthy. Like berries, kale/spinach, flax, bananna) and eat out less and only eat treats on the weekends. And as far as that last rule goes, we can only buy or make ONE treat for ourselves on the weekend, but we may enjoy treats at Clay's parents house on Sundays. This probably is just what normal people do...but this is a HUGE change for us right now. I am hopeful and glad we are doing this.

Alright, that is all for now! Enjoy the heat! I know I am :)

ok i know this isn't politically correct . . . BUT- you know how we always say "normal people" regarding treats? WEll, if you think about it- we must be more normal than we think, because most of the U.S. is over weight! So we must not be the only ones that can't resist treats! OK- the smoothie diet- that is so funny. I remember trying something liek that a long time ago and i wasthe same, at dinner i'm like- I"M DONE! haha. it's SO HARD. that's too bad you guys had to leave early from the mesa falls. Christmas in July, to be honest, I was expecting this. haha. love you!

Only skimmed so this isn't a FULL comment. The chairs- uh, sorry. Would paint thinner ruin the chairs? I'm glad you're not doing the fast/diet. I think cleanses are really stupid, to be honest. But of all the ones I've heard of, I think I appreciate yours the best :) I just figure if someone wants to DETOX their body, they simply replace all the bad food with good and your body will be detoxed. It can't be full of bad things, if you're only putting good into it. It doesn't mean you have to starve yourself and go hungry or eat wierd things. I'm not a nutritionist. But it just makes sense to me. Or just fast for a day. That's a whole day your body is just getting rid of stuff. A med student told me that she learned in school that fasting once a month is optimal for health. I know, I know- easier said than done. I just figure someone with the will power to do these wierd diets, IS capable of eating a balanced diet, if they just decide to. Anyway. Hope this wasn't preachy, totally not intended to be. I'll have to read this later. LOVE YOU!!!

Ha ha. Ok I read it now. That's so sad you had to leave early from La Mesa. Those pics were BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love the way you talk about Dante. It's like he's your baby. Truly. So funny. Like when we go out and get stopped so people can talk to and touch our babies. So funny. I'm glad you love him. I hope your chairs can get better!!! Love you!

I love your rambling, catching up posts. I always watch too much TV when I don't have a good book to read. I honestly stopped reading until I came to my dad's and am working on my fourth book since I got here a week ago. I feel like myself again! Reading books is amazing because it distracts you and give entertainment like TV, but is good for you at the same time.

And from the last post, you can't stop blogging! You have no idea how much I need to read about your life and your inspiring decisions. More than once I have gone to your blog when I felt down. I love your blog. I don't want to make you change your mind if you really want to, but please don't.

Anyway, I love and miss you! I don't think we'll be able to get together this summer, which makes me so sad. They were in Idaho for a week before I came and are not going again. I love you!

I wondered about the cleanse. I have tried things like that and never make it a whole day either. I am like you, I just think they aren't right! I can see Dante stealing the show!! Treats, I understand, enough said on that! That is so funny about the Christmas music, I wonder how your kids will be. I wonder if they will cheer or say MOM we can't do that now!!! love and miss you!

I love you so much sweetie, and I am always thinking of Christmas, it is my favorite time of year also. I love everything about it, and I especially love the decorations and Music. I so enjoy the programs on the BYU channel at that time of year. I am so sorry about the paint. So much work. I truly don't know what to say. Go on line and ask Heloise or look at her site, maybe there will be something to help you there. The only cleanse diet I have ever managed is the one where you eat The health food people have a site about it. It is a lot of fruit and veggies chicken, and fish a nature path doctor put me on one for awhile. I still have all the info somewhere. No real seasoning and all organic. I wish you luck.
