Anyone been to Seattle?

So....I know we aren't going for like 3 weeks, BUT- I want to get prepared!

Clay and I haven't been to Seattle, so we don't really know anything cool. When I think of Seattle I think of Grey's Anatomy and the Space Needle....so here are my questions:

  • Is the Space Needle cool? Why is it such a big deal...is it worth 16 bucks each to go there? I just don't get it...what's the point of it?
  • Are there any saweet places to eat (that aren't OOBER expensive)? Please include breakfast, lunch and dinner options.
  • Any cool attractions that I need to know about?
  • Any specific hotel I need to STAY FAR AWAY FROM?!?! I don't really want to stay in some creepy place...

So...yeah! Just give us the DL the inns the outs...basically ANYTHING you have to tell me about Seattle. That way we can have the best trip ever!

Ugh, I just wrote a super long comment and it got deleted. Grr.

Here is what I think is fun in Seattle:

Mariners games...just a fun atmosphere

Pike's Place and the rest of the water front

Alkai Beach

IKEA

Taking a ferry

Space needle (the view is awesome, but if you're not going to the top I don't really see the point of going) Makes for cute pics!

Have fun, I'm jealous!!

Oh yes. Go to the Pike's Place Market (bring cash, you might want to buy something) it's just crowded and you walk around and there's shops and food. I remember there were really cheap flowers there and I wished I had cash to buy them. Greg and I didn't go to the Experience Music Project- but he said it's awesome and that we should've done it I guess they have this room where you pick up instruments and you "play" a rock song and there's a screen of screaming fans and it feels like you're playing a real concert. So I would definitely do that. It's in a really crazy looking building. DEFINITELY GO ON THE UNDERGROUND TOUR. We LOVED IT. If you could only do one thing, I would do that. It was lots of fun. We skipped the space needle, I'm pretty sure I was told it was no big deal. That's kind of a lot of money just to go up high. Greg said there's a really good Aquarium in Seattle. Also, you could catch an IMAX or a laser show (we did that) or there's a really good Science Museum. I can't wait to find out what you do!

Oh how I love love love Seattle! Camden might have to have surgery on her hands in the next year and the doc gave us a choice of either SLC or Seattle and we both voted definitely Seattle (who cares if it's farther away it's SO cool)
I would recommend the Underground Tour and Experience Music Project. They also have a really good aquarium, if you like those. The space needle didn't seem worth it to us.
By far our favorite place to eat was a crepe shop at the very end of Pike's Place. Don't remember the name but it's in the area with lots of food shops and it's on the top floor. SOOO good - everything from savory to dessert crepes. And the boardwalk areas by the beach have some great chowder places.

Grandpa and I loved going to Seattle, there are some great places to eat on the Pike and I would do the old town Seattle undergrooun tour, definety worth the price and the science museum is good and I would go on the ferry. The scenery from the ferry is worth it. We ate at the top of the space needle, I don't think it was worth the price. Wonderful shops on the boardwalk and lots of places to eat. Soak up the place you will have fun. Go see the Temple in Bellevue also. It is a good site. They have a few famous hotels right downtown, if you're into paying for the spa experience there are a lot that offer that. Check online. Hugs and Kisses to you both and we are praying for you

Just get the Seattle CityPass. It's $59 each and you get to do all the cool stuff for that one price. My wife and I did it last year on a little anniversary trip to Seattle, and had a blast. We did everything except the zoo. Here is what it includes:

** Space Needle (two trips in 24 hours... go night and day!)

** Seattle Aquarium

** Argosy Cruises Seattle Harbor Tour (Lovely hourlong tour of the harbor)

** Pacific Science Center (Next to the Space Needle... and includes admission and a ticket for an IMAX film. This place is similar to OMSI in Portland.)

** Woodland Park Zoo

** Experience Music Project & Science Fiction Museum (right next to the Space Needle at the Seattle Center)

Here is all the CityPass info. You can buy the CityPass at any of these locations, which is super convenient. One you buy the booklet, you just present it to each venue, and they stamp it or tear it out... and you're good to go. Best deal ever and you save so much money. I cannot recommend it enough (I love the Southern California CityPass... but that's another blog comment!).

P.s. For hotels, my wife and I stayed the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. We got a great rate at Hotels.com. So awesome. JFK and The Beatles both stayed there back in the '60s, and it is the only AAA Five Diamond hotel in the Pacific Northwest. Gorgeous place.

Man I am so jealous! Wish I was going. I would definitely go to Pike's Place Market... the Seattle Aquarium is really cool too. I love taking the ferry from seattle to Bainbridge Island.. there is a really good pizza place there I can't think of the name but I will look it up. The Space needle is cool... I dont think I ever took braeden up there. Alki beach is a cool place to go. Another cool place to see is the Freemont Troll.. is a giant troll under a bridge. As far as food I miss authentic Thai and Chinese food.. there are a lot of great places there. So this list could go on and on. Wish we were there then you could just stay with my family! That city pass someone mentioned above would be way cool. I would go to all of those places. Good luck if you have any questions call me!

I grew up in Bellevue (Where the Seattle temple is) The City pass is really good if you want to do a lot of the big stuff (Space Needle, EMP etc.)- But it does cost. Some other cool things you can do is the go see the Fremont troll, take a ferry ride, walk around the Seattle center, go to the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop on the water... lots of things! Pikes Place is a must. If you need more ideas email me. :) Oh- and if for some reason you felt the need- it’s about 3ish hours or so to Forks.
