Latest Obsessions

1. Uglies...Pretties...Specials...Extras...
2. Duh. Breaking Dawn
3. Lost
4. Reunion

Now I know you are all probably like- uh- duh. We KNOW ALREADY! But I figured I'd talk about each in detail.

1. Uglies/Pretties
So I just completed Pretties by Scott Westerfeld today. It is the sequel to Uglies. Pretty much, they are way fun books, BIG page turners. I've read these way fast, just like twilight. They are way easy reads, but a great story. Some people may think that there is a hidden agenda- which is quite believable, but the fact is- it's a great story in my opinion. Uglies was really quite wonderful. Pretties was good too, but not quite as wonderful. Still, I couldn't put it down. I read it faster than Uglies. To give you all a little summary, the plot is based on a futuristic society that has evolved to a point that all humans are forced/required/privilaged to undertake an entire body plastic surgery to become "Pretty". All of these people are formed into these pretty people that are all happy and party and play all the time. The purpose? People aren't treated differently because of looks, people are happy, etc etc. Well most people are DYING to reach the age to turn pretty, but it turns out there are little rebels who decide to run away. That is basically how it starts. Sounds wierd, possibly stupid- but I really liked it! I would reccommend it to any basic lover of books.

2. Breaking Dawn
OH how I'm excited. Sadly, we will be in Oregon when it comes out, so I wont get my chance to read until the Monday night after:( It's okay- I do understand the importance of family over books. Therefore, I will spend my time with my family instead of reading my heart out the day it comes out. I must say- I think Bella may end up with Jacob. I'm not POSITIVE of this..duh, who would be except Stephenie herself? But I really do just think he is great. Of course I love Edward with all my heart, but I just don't know. I just have no idea and I LOVE THAT about this series. I really cannot predict what the heck will happen. I'm so excited. I LOVE good books:)

3. LOST!
Clay and I have been watching Lost on ABC.com and are loving it. We just completed the first season. It is SO intense. I don't reccommend it to some of my sisters. Although, some of you like 24, and what I've heard, maybe you would like Lost. Who knows. It's a little creepy sometimes and way intense. I am always jumpy after I watch it. But it's really hard to stop watching! Anyway- we are loving it. My favorite character is probably Charlie. He is just so sweet and I LOVE his and Claires relationship. I always change my mind about Locke. Sometimes I think he is so creepy and wierd, other times I think he is the coolest guy ever! I just think he has something up his sleeve that I don't know about quite yet. Jack is the man, obviously. I just think it's a little silly that all the hero's names in tv shows are Jack. Clay can't STAND Kate. He thinks she's an idiot and hates her basically. I like her. I think she's trying, even though she still does tricky little things sometimes. I swear, if they want protection, they just need to give her the guns. She is one tough gal. Anyway, keep in mind we've only watched SEASON 1, SO DON'T SPOIL ANYTHING FOR ME!

4. Reunion.
We get to go in like 2 days! I'm sooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. This wasn't on my list, but I keep thinking I have homework- but I don't! YES! I love that. No homework for 7 weeks. HOORAY!

Love to you all. If none of you are into these things, sorry- but it's time you hop on board. Really, you wont regret it.

Then of course, don't forget about Harry Potter 6! That trailer isn't out yet though:( I know, I know, I'm obsessive. I've just accepted it.

You know how you normally should wake up feeling relaxed? Or wake up feeling a little bit more at ease than last night? Well this has been impossible for me! This morning, I arose more stressed than when I went down. All night I was dreaming of Excel Spreadsheets. How exciting huh? NOT! I only have to survive 3 more days. That is comforting, but not. Considering I still have to take 2 quiz's; write a paper; finish this HUGE project; and take a few tests while I'm at it. UGH! Not to mention go to work, feed myself- which seems to be quite the task lately- and keep myself from going absolutely insane! Why am I blogging? I'm simply trying to calm my nerves. I need to calm down. Guess what else has been on my mind? The fact that BYU-Idaho is rollin with the punches in having this new "LAPTOP INITIATIVE". What is that, you might think. WELL, it's where they are STRIPPING CAMPUS of all desktop computers, and requiring that EACH student MUST have a laptop. Oh, great. Well we HAVE a laptop but that brings about a problem when a husband and wife both have majors that require MUCH computer work. Not to mention 2 or 3 of my classes next semester involve being in a COMPUTER lab, which next semester...equals a lab full of power strips for laptops. Seriously- Clay's major, Business, requires him to have a laptop- no matter what, in class all the time. This is even before this stupuid initiative. My major, not required- we always used the computer labs. Well, now it's time for a laptop I guess. So they are forcing us to do this, and how do they compensate us? Special grants? NOPE! ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

This is all very helpful that Clay and I just recently discovered "LOST". All 4 seasons are on abc.com. How is this not helpful?! It is SUCH an intense show that we are both loving and seem to be getting addicted to. I've also suddenly gotten very into my book, "Uglies". Oh dear. Why do I do this to myself?

Well. I'm sure it will all be okay. I only have 3 more days of this! And then the heavenly 7 week break comes. Sorry for whining. Love you all.

To my Family

How does this sound for a lunch for the reunion?

Quick mini-pizzas - spread tomato paste on a tortilla, add meat of your choice plus olives and sprinkle with cheese. Cook in a frying pan until the cheese melts.

That sounds easy and cheapish? I don't know. Are we going to have a stovetop thing? Would that not fill people up? How many tortillas would I have to get for each person? I would only do pepperoni and cheese-no olives. Comment please!

PS- I just googled "good camping meals" and found that description. hehe.

Oh how I love Summer

Well first off- HAPPY LATE 4TH OF JULY! I must say a few words, I should say more, BUT, I am so so grateful to be an American. I love this country, I love the many soldiers that are currently fighting and have fought in the past to protect my freedom. I love the freedom that I have to worship as I please and to be able to ride my bike on the street without fearing for my life. I am grateful that as a woman, my country respects me and encourages success for me. I am grateful that I can have as many babies as I want and am not limited in anything that I want to do. I'm grateful that our President believes in God, and prays, and I'm grateful that the US Dollar says, In God we Trust. On the 4th, we watched the parade (on the street, even though we could've just looked out our window and gotten the same view) and I seriously almost got tears in my eyes, but we were with our friends- I felt stupid, I know- the pride- anyway, I totally was feeling emotional just for the fact that the entire town of Rexburg (and I mean the entire town) gathered for this one event to come together and celebrate this nation. Then at the fireworks, we sat next to Clay's cousin who recently came home from Iraq, who told Clay that the fireworks noise brought chills up his spine because of the memories it caused. He said the memories are still crystal clear and as terrifying as ever. I couldn't help but be incredibly grateful for all of these men and women willing to sacrifice their lives and their family in order to protect our freedom, and bring about freedom in others lives. We are truly blessed to be Americans.

Now that that's overdue and done with. The fireworks were fun, besides the fact that I got slapped in the arm with a tubular type thing (forgive my absence of knowledge on firework lingo) that fell from the sky.
I looked this up to try and describe it-it is what fireworks are made of or something, and I would guess that I got hit by a molecular tube! What the firework was shot from! It came from the air, specifically to me and nailed me in the arm! Imagine that. At least it wasn't my face:)

School is slowly inching it's way towards SUMMER! I just did a big presentation for one class, so a big load is off my back as far as that goes. THANK GOODNESS! Don't you worry though, I still have enough to stress me to the point of nausea.

I don't know what to make for my lunch day for our family reunion. I have to feed 20 some odd people and need ideas that are cheap, easy, and delicious! Any ideas, shoot me an e-mail or something.

The weather has been great! Short sleeves everyday! And it's not miserably hot either. It's perfect in the 80's. I do wish it were a little warmer for lake days. Hm...oh well.

Clay's new obsession is turtles. Or actually, tortoises. You didn't know the difference? Me either. I still don't really...hmmmm. Anyway, Clay wants one BAD! They are spendy little buggers though, so he will have to search hard if he wants to get one...in our price range. Being that we are definitely in the poor house, that might be a while. He has been researching them, of course. And talking about them all the time. How is it that I, a girl in which we only had a cat ONCE that I can remember, who walked crooked with its tail up at all times, who "passed away", when I was VERY young, and had NO pet after that- and really no desire for a pet after that- married an animal-lover to the extreme kind of man? I've finally accepted that we ARE getting a dog, someday. I think I am fine with it too. There will just be strict rules. For instance, I know when some of my sisters visit, they just might not want a dog around. I will therefore KEEP the dog away for that time being. Also, it will be well trained, and NON-shedding. You know? I would actually prefer it to not bark, lick, jump, run, shed, or poop- but according to Clay, that really doesn't exist. Sad for me. He wishes to have birds, lizards, pigs (yes, pigs, that is what I said) and pretty much EVERYthing. Those have yet to be decided on (except for the fact that I've already made my decision...). I think he'll have to have a second shop-like house in our backyard for his own personal zoo. Maybe when we are rich and famous we can just make a huge investment for a Zoo. Clay would love that I bet:)

I haven't been reading a book lately. WELL, actually I did start the Uglies.

I haven't really kept reading though, not that it's not good, just because I thought maybe I should wait until the semester is done. Mom- don't let me forget to ask you about Breaking Dawn and ordering it to your house...k? I always forget. Anyway- I have found that I love reading. I miss it now that I'm not really reading anything. I'm so excited for this summer break to be able to read and not feel guilty at all!

Well, that's all. I love you all!
